Our 2nd annual summit to celebrate resiliency in the community is coming soon, on Monday 3/26! We have the great opportunity to jointly engage in this work with the City of Flint as we collectively promote environmental justice and community resiliency.
The event will have multiple speakers, with local professionals serving as panelists with our guests in order to provide concrete and usable trauma-informed actions and practices that participants can use in their professional spaces. Community residents are strongly encouraged to attend, as we know it is vital that residents not just be on the receiving end of promising practices, but to participate in the process of engaging and supporting other community members with trauma-informed practices. There will also be training opportunities in Psychological First Aid offered throughout the day, so please take advantage of the available information!
During the evening, we look forward to having families present- with opportunities for parents to learn about practices and activities in the community that are adopting trauma-informed principles in their programming, and for youth to potentially identify ways to support their own well-being. We will have brief sessions offered throughout the evening about mindfulness for the family, and the Community Resiliency Model- our ReCAST effort to enhance well-being among community members.
Finally, we want to hear your voice! Are there other spaces in the community where trauma-informed principles would be helpful? Are there major events or stressors that we should be creating opportunities for community to address? During the day, we invite you to participate in ~30 minute feedback sessions to tell us what you think.
Feel free to drop in on the events you find interesting, and let us know what you'd like to see next. We look forward to seeing you there!
